Earlier this year, it was estimated that only 3% of the Nigerian population had access to affordable health insurance. In response to this, The National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) was established with a vision of improving the health of the Nigerian population at an affordable cost.
The NHIS uses a common risk-sharing scheme that pools funds at a fixed cost to the consumer. Due to the pooling of low-risk and high-risk individuals, this arrangement is globally known to improve resource mobilization as well as equity for the local population. It also allows affordable treatment for both regular and emergency health services.
In order to ensure that every Nigerian has access to good healthcare services, the National Health Insurance Scheme has developed various programs to cover different segments of society. This consists of the following:
Formal Sector Formal Sector Social Health Insurance Programme Mobile Health Group, Individual, and Family Social Health Insurance Programme Informal Sector Tertiary Institution Social Health Insurance Programmes Community-Based Social Health Insurance Programmes Public Private Partnership Social Health Insurance Programmes Vulnerable Group Pregnant Women Children Under five Prison Inmates Retirees Aged
Being an accredited NHIS provider means that enrolled members can freely choose Hope Center as their primary healthcare facility. Hope Center will not only be more accessible to those from the local population who are in need of primary care, but it also increases our accessibility to those who may need emergency treatments both near and far. This is in part due to our close proximity to Owerri's airport, allowing us to receive patients from other regions who are in need of emergency and/or specialized services.
With the never-ending need for healthcare, aihwa is always grateful to receive support from our generous donors. As a registered 501(c)(3), all donations are tax-deductible and go directly to helping our patients and the local community. If you would like to help support our mission, DONATE HERE.
