World Health Organization and AIHWA Partner to Celebrate World Mental Health Day, October 10, 2025

It was a remarkable and eventful occasion when several community and religious leaders, along with healthcare providers and law enforcement officials from Imo State, Nigeria, gathered at the AIHWA Hope Center to celebrate World Mental Health Day. The event was sponsored by the World Health Organization in collaboration with AIHWA International. This gathering provided an excellent opportunity for attendees to discuss issues related to mental health stigma and the devastating effects of stigmatization in Nigeria. By the end of the program, every participant hoped to become an advocate for increased awareness about understanding mental illnesses. They emphasized that these conditions should not be viewed as demonic possession or a lack of moral integrity, but rather as healthcare challenges, similar to cancer, that must be addressed from a medical perspective.
